Class Spotlight: Imagination & Creativity

Think Outside the Box! (Why You Shouldn't Read This Article ...

This past semester, I took a management elective course called Imagination and Creativity. In this class, Professor Bies exposed my classmates and I to many different ways of thinking and how to think more “outside-of-the-box”. Adjusting your perspective and changing your thinking process can be uncomfortable and is definitely not easy. In class, you are forced into many open-ended situations that really allow you to maximize your creativity in every moment. Additionally, the assignments in the class were some of my favorite parts. One was an innovation success story in which you chose a company and reflected on the ways the company stemmed from one innovative and creative idea that was brought to life. We also read the Tao of Pooh, which has become one of my favorite books! The book  teaches many life lessons and our task was to reflect on ways we can use these lessons in business and throughout our lives.

This course is a great way to step back and reflect on your daily life to change your perspective. It is vital to be in the moment in order to be successful in the future and think creatively. There are many great quotes and life lessons that Professor Bies shares with you and I enjoyed every second of this class! I highly recommend taking it.
